in the beginning
I was born in 1986 in Kent and luckily for me my mum is an artist, so I have always had a great teacher and a constant supply of art materials 'borrowed' from her studio. I studied art at GCSE and A Level, and exhibited my work in local exhibitions, but chose to study English at Cambridge rather than Art, mostly because I knew I'd always find time for painting.
After graduating, I went travelling with two adventurous blokes from my college, acting as 'Team Artist' for a documentary research team entitled 'Tracing Tea'. We drove from England to India in a London Taxi, passing through Turkey, Iran, Central Asia and Pakistan. Travelling overland taught me to appreciate the minute changes in light and texture as you move through a landscape. I also met and sketched some fascinating people, and intend to expand this work into an exhibition to be taken around schools and libraries later this year.
On returning home I moved back to Cambridge to pursue a career in art and illustration. I work in a range of styles, preferring watercolour, pen and ink, and oils. I have had successful solo exhibitions in Kent and continue to exhibit my work in Kent and Cambridge.
