I think paintings should be a joy to look at. I tend towards an illustrative style, focusing on pen and ink and watercolours, and also using various printing techniques. Prompted by my travels in India and Central Asia, my work is much influenced by the textile colours and patterns, and by the painting techniques, of these areas.
My work is usually figurative or landscape. Although I focus on the illustrative, I range through a variety of approaches, and frequently use watercolour and oils, experimenting as I go. My style has been heavily influenced by my wonderful teacher, Hilary Scoble. Hence I tend towards an illustrative and realist approach and have a soft-spot for the golden age of illustration, particularly the work of Arthur Rackham.
I have had several exhibitions in Kent and Cambridgeshire, and continue to exhibit and sell my work in galleries throughout these areas.
